World Cultural Heritage

As a criterion (iii) of the World Cultural Heritage "Mt. Fuji - Object of Worship and Source of Art", it is written that "Through the ascent to the summit and pilgrimage to the sacred place at the foot of the mountain, which has inspired the tradition of mountain worship from ancient times to the present day, pilgrims wished to imbue themselves with the spiritual power of the gods and Buddhas who live there."

Fuji has continued to inspire a tradition of mountain worship from ancient times to the present day. Through ascending to the summit and making pilgrimages to sacred places at the foot of the mountain, pilgrims have hoped to immerse themselves in the spiritual powers of the gods and Buddha who call it their home.

須山浅間神社（すやませんげんじんじゃ）は　古くより「富士山」を御神体として仰ぎ　度重なる噴火とも関連して　山麓に浅間神社を祀り　岳神の霊を慰め奉ったのが始まりとされます　遅くても 大永4年（1524）には存在していたことが　現在残る棟札から確認されています

世界文化遺産「富士山－信仰の対象と芸術の源泉」のクライテリア（iii）として「古代から今日に至るまで山岳信仰の伝統を鼓舞し続けてきた　頂上への登拝と山麓の霊地への巡礼を通じて　巡礼者はそこを居処とする神仏の霊能を我が身に吹き込むことを願った」と記されます

富士山東口本宮 冨士浅間神社（ふじさんひがしぐちほんぐう ふじせんげんじんじゃ）は　富士山須走口（東口）登山道の起点となる〈須走浅間神社〉で　富士山 世界文化遺産 構成資産の一つです　大同2（807）年創建で　富士山噴火〈延暦21年（802）〉時の鎮火祭の斎場であった跡地（現在の社地）に祀られた東口（須走口）本宮として　古来より崇敬を集めます
